Featured Program - Zapata County Receives a Donation to Build a Community Garden! The Better Living for Texans team in Zapata County was recently part of a donation ceremony as a result of the great work being done to bring healthy foods to the area through developing community and home gardens! BLT Nutrition Education Assistant, Amanda Villarreal, was awarded a donation from Medina Electric Cooperative (MEC) for our Growing and Nourishing Healthy Communities (GNHC) program. The funds will be used to build a community garden on county property near the Boys and Girls club in Zapata.
